I graduated from Omaha Westside High School in 1984. My father retired from the Air Force in 1984 and my family moved to California where I attended college at Riverside Community College for one year. I then transferred to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where I received by degree in education in 1989.
While attending the University I met my husband Kirt. We were married in November of 1989 and moved to a farm south of Wood River. I spent two years substitute teaching for the Wood River School District and was hired as a full time teacher in 1991, making this my 25th wonderful year. During those 25 years I have taught fourth, fifth, second, and first grade. I also went back to school and obtained my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State College.
My husband and I have two children. Our first child Garret was born in 1993 and our daughter Hope was born in 1996. Both of our children attended school at Wood River Rural Schools. Garret is now in his fifth year at Morninside College in Sioux City. He wrestled for four years and earned All American status as a senior. He will graduate this May and is engaged to be married to his fiancee Kelsey, in April of 2017. Hope is in her second year at Bellevue University where she plays volleyball and is majoring in communication. She keeps busy studying, practicing, coaching and working part time at a golf course.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy reading, gardening, sewing and crafting. I'm looking forward to spending many more years teaching the students in the Wood River Rural School District.
