Name: Kim Felton-Canfield (Mrs. Canfield) | |
Nathan and I married in 2002. In 2003, I accepted a 4th grade teaching position at Wood River Elementary and we moved to town that winter. In 2009, I made the switch to 2nd grade. Nathan has an Actuary Science Degree and began working at Region III in Kearney in 2001. We have three kids. Johnny is 8 years old and is in 3rd grade at WRES. He keeps us busy participating in any sport he is old enough to play, CCD, and Student Council. He has been a part of the Wood River Wrestling Club since he was 3 years old. Anna is 5 (6 next week) and in Kindergarten at WRES. She enjoys being a part of Just For Kix dancing, Tball, and summer camps. Emme is 2 years old, but she is still our baby. She goes to Jane Wagoner’s Daycare here in Wood River. We often wonder what we would have ever done without Jane and Dennis Wagoner. They are so much more than childcare providers to us. My grandma Micki Lowry and several of my aunts/cousins live in the Grand Island/Doniphan area and we enjoy having them close. Harley is our family dog and you can catch her chasing cars (from her leash/chain) on Green Street.
Like many others, my family means the world to me. My parents and both of my sisters live back home in Ord, Ne. My mom is a school nurse and my dad is a fertilizer manager and farmer. Both of my sisters are pretty amazing! My older sister is a dentist and owner of Complete Family Dentistry in Ord and my little sister works at The Valley County Hospital. My Uncle Tom and his family also live back home. He is important because he taught me how to tie my shoes at a very young age!!! Any schoolteacher will tell you how helpful that is!!
I feel so blessed to have found a home here at WRES. The people that I work with are not only my co-workers, but they are also my friends. I have truly enjoyed my last 12 years of teaching. I always have to remind my students on the last day of school that they can’t forget me because I will NEVER forget them.
