Being where you're expected to be-when you are expected to be there. Meeting deadlines. Conducting yourself professionally. Career readiness is about knowing your "stuff". Understanding technology and how and when to use it appropriately. Using what you know to address new challenges and new opportunities. Knowing what you don't know-and being enthusiastic about learning more, and getting even better. Having the knowledge of drive and confidence to start your own business. Career readiness is also about relationships, collaborating with co-workers, respecting their opinions, privacy, and culture. Learning to work as a team member, accepting responsibility, and accepting the consequences of your decisions. Finally, understanding your role in your community, state, nation, world. Dr. Elmore also felt that every Nebraskan student regardless of background, interests, or intent after graduating from high school, can and should be career ready.
All above statements were paraphrased from Habitudes, by Dr. Tim Elmore, Author.
We will be working on completing this program throughout the year. Ask your child about their Habitudes book. Help them to understand their personal strengths, talents, and areas of improvement. Your help is always appreciated!
