Browser hijacking is when your browser gets modified "without" your permission. When you go to a website, then sometimes a pop up will come up and say something like "Your java needs updated to view this video. Would you like to update it?" with a button beside it that says "update". When you click the update button it installs something, but it may not be Java. You may have just been hijacked. Common indicators that you have been hijacked is a different homepage, a different search engine and your computer runs really slow when your browser is open. If you aren't lucky enough to get those annoyances, you may get pop up after pop up or when you open a new tab, it will give you a number to call to get the software removed from your computer. No be fooled though. Even if you do pay them, they still won't take it off. To avoid this, if you need your java updated, for example, go to java.com or do a google search for the software that you are looking for. If you think that you may be hijacked, watch this video and it may help you out.
