| Holiday Preparations Like many others, my husband and I have been preparing for the upcoming Christmas holiday. For the first time in our married lives, we are sending out Christmas cards, and we are excited to participate in this time-honored tradition. Our home is also festooned in holiday attire; our tree is up, or stocking are hung, and our presents are wrapped. We both anticipate a relaxing Christmas break and look forward to celebrating with close friends and family members. Conference in Kansas City This summer, Mike and I spent time in Kansas City for a yearbook conference. While there, I gained knowledge of Photoshop, spread design, and yearbook trends. In our free time, we toured Union Station, the Nelson Atkins Art Museum, and Boulevard Brewing Company; shopped at Legend's Outlet mall; and saw a production of Spamalot. Overall, the trip was both educational and entertaining. First-time Homeowners Last year, Mike and I purchased our first home, which is located in southeast Grand Island. We have spent the last year remodeling the interior. After repainting all of the walls, replacing all of the interior doors and moulding, and laying new floor coverings, we are both becoming somewhat handy, although my stepfather, who's a contractor, would laugh at that statement. After all of the hard work was done, I was finally able to begin furnishing and decorating, which continues to be a work in progress that I love. I can't wait until it's my turn to host a family holiday! |
