After graduation I plan to attend a University in Nebraska and pursue a degree in the Health Science field. I also plan to continue my track career. When I have earned my college diploma, I plan on finding a job, getting married, and starting a family. Hello Wood River! I am Lori Peters and am currently teaching in my first official full-time teaching position as the 6th grade Language Arts and Reading teacher this year. I have stayed busy the past nine years substitute teaching in the Wood River School District and enjoy being a full-time Christian, mother, wife, sister, aunt, coach and fan of several local sports teams, student and community activities. My husband, Steve and I also farm north of Wood River. My background involves growing up on the family dairy farm north of Grand Island being the oldest of two siblings. I graduated from Northwest High School where I was active in band, music, volleyball, basketball and track. I went on to graduate from York College and Kansas Newman College in Wichita, KS where I participated on the womens basketball teams and earned my degree in Education.
I always knew I wanted to coach and teach as I was very blessed with amazing educators right here in central Nebraska, they not only taught me about education, but influenced my life in ways that made me feel like their "family". The impression my teachers made on me influenced my passion for education and the importance of how people and relationships can make powerful impacts on kids. This is what I want to do everyday....give kids a safe and inspiring environment to learn and become successful adults to the best of their individual ability and assist them in finding their own passion with a joy for reading. I continued my own education, as I finished and obtained my Masters in Education with a Reading Specialist endorsement in 2013 from Concordia University in Seward, NE. I enjoy my kids and all of their activities, I love to golf, read, scrapbook, driving the tractor, mowing the yard, shopping, antiques and just spending time with my mom and siblings and extended family It is a blessing to be a part of the staff at Wood River Rural Schools and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to teach and coach great kids everyday right here at home! Life is good! |
